Memories from Mike and Nua Shores

We have so many wonderful and fun memories of our 40+ years of friendship with Gisela and Paul.  But we will try to narrow them down to just a few.

One memory that I (Nua) especially have was the very special wedding shower Gisela and Kristine Gavette gave me before our December 29th wedding.  They came up with the terrific idea of a Christmas Decoration theme, since I already had many of the usual household items and kitchen gadgets.  Believe it or not, I still have and use some of those Christmas decorations I received as gifts at that shower, and whenever I get them out of storage every year, I am reminded of what a creative and thoughtful idea that was.  But, that is definitely a description of Gisela – creative and thoughtful!!

Remembering our wedding, we have some photos to illustrate how creative Gisela, Paul and other friends were in decorating our car.  Then, a few years later, after they introduced us to Marriage Encounter, they were at it again, decorating our car for an Anniversary Weekend!  Gisela even got Robin involved in the job!

We have other great memories of fun times spent with Gisela and Paul.
We will never forget the BBQ dinner at their house in Clairemont.
Can’t remember which family cat it was, but we do remember it eating our raw steak when we left it by the BBQ for only a minute.  Not funny at the time, since it was a holiday and all of the stores were closed, but a funny memory now.  And, we dug out some photos of a New Year’s weekend spent together in San Francisco.  We remember Gisela slogging through the rainy streets in her brand new moccasins!

Unfortunately, when Gisela and Paul moved to Paradise, we didn’t get to see them as often.  But, we did get together many times when they came down to San Diego to visit Colin and family.  And we were able to visit with them in their home in Paradise.  We remember the yummy pot roast Gisela had cooking for us when we arrived.

Well, it is hard to try to condense memories from a friendship of so many years, but those memories do bring comfort, and Gisela continues to live in our hearts through the love and friendship she shared with us.  What a precious gift!
